The Queens' Classrooms - yet again

Hah... finally dah tamat tengok the Japanese version sekali lagi. Sungguh berpuas hati sebab sebelum ini tak tengok special version sebab tak tahu pun ade huhuhu. Dan seperti yang sebelum ini, memang tak dapat nak menahan air mata bila dah sampai episod akhir huhuhu

Alrighty then.

Although JnK keluar dulu sebelum YK, tapi sebab aku tengok semula JnK so we'll use YK as the base reference.

Yeowangui Kyoshil vs. Joou no Kyoshitsu
Episode wise, kalau masuk special episodes for Japanese version, rasanya lebih kurang sama panjang. 2 specials, about 1.5 hrs each. Lebih kurang laaaaaa. Tapi dari susunan jalan cerita, J-ver lebih padat dan truer to the point yang nak disampaikan, dan specials tu sampingan saje. Tak tengok pun tak pe sebab dia cerita macam mana Maya boleh bertukar menjadi AkuMa*, tapi kalau terasa intrigued boleh la tengok (highly recommended). Basically sama kedua-duanya, cuma ada beza sikit sini sana. Mungkin disebabkan faktor geografi yang mana masalah pada sistem masyarakat Jepun tak mungkin 100% sama dengan Korea, so they need to tweak the story a bit to fit the local society, to make it believable.
Setting classroom dan AkuMa's surrounding J-ver lebih gelap, so suasana rasa lebih mandom dan gloomy compared to the K-ver. Mungkin guna filter gelap, but it helped setting the mood. Tapi K-ver lebih realistik sebab... kalau hari cerah patut nampak cerah la kan? Takkan bila ada orang menakutkan masuk cahaya jadi suram tiba2 ye dak?

* Dalam cerita ni Maya cakap nak jadi "oni" (sp.2) dan tiada reference langsung pasal nak jadi "akuma" - sila gugel sendiri perbezaannye - tapi disebabkan dalam K-ver bebdak bahsekan cikgu depa MaNyeo (direct trans: perempuan evil, lepak trans: witch) yang diambil daripada Ma Yeojin (sebut MaYeo tak sampai maksud dia haha) so I use AkuMa moving forward :P

Ma Yeojin vs. Akutsu Maya
Both watak brilliant. But then mungkin sebab Go Hyunjung bermuka chubby, maka watak MaNyeo yang sepatutnya menakutkan ini tidak nampak menakutkan sangat - muka dia lebih nampak seperti scheming teacher... which in my opinion still okay. Amami Yuki lebih real dan membuat orang kecut perut bila tengok dia. So one point for AkuMa. Comparison lain:
- Pemakaian: Pakaian AkuMa lebih menakutkan - ada unsur sadis di situ, sungguh gothic dari atas ke bawah. Pakaian MaNyeo lebih.. umm... fashionable? walaupun hitam bagai (dan kadang2 ade skarf putih). Dan rambut AkuMa diikat sanggul ketat macam tak boleh nak tolerate langsung, whereas MaNyeo still nampak macam approachable dan boleh cucuk sikit2.
- Both watak tak break character, stern dari awal sampai habis. Cuma with observation boleh nampak MaNyeo ada slipped sikit2 sana sini. AkuMa memang sampai ke sudah. Only obvious dia tahan sebak masa episod terakhir.
- Dalam K-ver ada gambar MaNyeo dengan anak dia, but tak pernah explain ape terjadi. Ataupun ade explain tapi aku termiss kot? Dalam J-ver, tak de sebut langsung yang AkuMa ada anak (rasenye ade gambar tapi tak perasan kot lol) mahupun pernah berkahwin, tapi ada kisah pasal dia dalam sp.1.

Main kids' characters

Shim Hana vs. Kanda Kazumi
Oh Donggoo vs. Manabe Yuusuke
Kim Seohyun vs. Shindo Hikaru
Eun Bomi vs. Baba Hisako
Semua sangat pandai berlakon. Especially watak Shim Hana/Kanda Kazumi & Oh Donggoo/Manabe Yuusuke. Sangat.
- Hana kurang annoying (dan lebih comel lol) compared to Kazumi
- Donggoo lebih kecik compared to Yuusuke - maybe sebab pelakon watak Donggoo lebih muda than the other 3, but Yuusuke's older than the rest? Entahlah.
- Hikaru lebih lantang daripada Seohyun
- Bomi lebih annoying daripada Baba-chan
Characters development (meaning persahabatan) dari mula sampai habis, rasanya J-ver lebih heart-warming sebab Hikaru lebih mesra dengan kawan2 baik dia towards the end, while Seohyun masih ada hesitations - mungkin dah lama bersendirian so lebih susah nak break character?

Watak lain
- I prefer Yang Seonsaeng daripada Tendo Sensei, prolly sebab 1. YS lebih comel, and 2. TS lebih annoying hah!
- Guru besar K-ver lebih penyibuk lol
- Penolong guru besar K-ver lebih conniving, which made him lebih menonjol dalam misi menjatuhkan MaNyeo.

Ok I think that's all for now since I forgot about what I wanted to add earlier huhuhu :(

If you ask for my recommendation which one's to watch (or maybe watch first), depending on your preference:
1. Newer? K-ver
2. Gloomier/scarier? J-ver w/ specials
3. Not draggy? J-ver w/o specials
4. Cuter? K-ver (Yang Seonsaeng factor!)
5. Shorter? J-ver, of course WITHOUT specials
6. More drama i.e. interaction with parents? K-ver

But if you ask me wether to watch both or not, I would say yes. Even if the base story line is about 90-95% the same.

I like it.

Maybe not much as the Japanese version, but I do like it.
So much.

It was not as gothic & mysterious looking as the Japanese version, even MaNyo was not as intimidating as AkuMa, but overall it was as good. Overall storyline might be the same... tapi of course ada beza sebab their cultures are different.

I took some time to finish this drama due to some other important matters (translation played the main part), and also since I know how it ends from the J version so I was a bit hesitant to finish it and move to another drama. But then when it ended, I had this feeling to revisit the J version, just because.

Probably I'll make a comparison later? If I'm not that lazy, I guess :P But for the time being, you can read the synopsis in dramawiki. Or even actually watch the drama. I would recommend you to start with the J version if you ask me.

p/s do not bother reading my sampah review for Joou no Kyoshitsu. lol.

Kemalasan semakin menjadi jadi

Tak tahu berapa lama dah kain kat katil ni tak berlipat. Sigh. Serius malas melampau. Apa nak jadi tah. Macam dah tak pedulikan persekitaran langsung.
Tadi masa guna toilet main room pelik apsal water heater tak berfungsi. Mungkin wiring dia dah short kot. Haih.
Malas ni bersebab. Walau pun sebab itu memang selfish. Tapi tak perlulah nak letak sini. Cukup la tau ia akan mengaibkan.
Sigh. I need to change, to be better than the current me. But need to start from melipat kain, of course.

Bed-bounded again.

There are reasons why I hate going out when it's raining; one of them is I easily fall sick.

Right now my throat is very sore, and my breathing sounds like something that probably comes out from a raptor. Mucus, phlegm - you name it, I got it.

The fan's speed is at minimum but it feels like the wind at the docks during fall. I have to let the fan on for air circulation or I'll have more trouble breathing.

All due to walking in the rain 4x yesterday. When you need to take out/put a wheelchair from/into the car boot you won't have that extra hand to hold an umbrella.

Sigh. I hate being sick. Especially when mom will translate it as laziness. And now I feel like a sausage roll - nicely wrapped in my comforter.

180° Mood Change

I was playing around with my smartphone when this cute barista kiddo handed me my latte.

Barista: Kak (Big sis), here’s my heart for you. **referring to the heart-shaped design he made on the latte

I held my laugh while thinking, “Aduhai, so cheesy!” Apparently next door is Burger King, so I answered after a few kikikiki moment:

Me: If I want some cheese, I’d rather get it from next door.

Then this kiddo and other two baristas beside him let out a big laugh while I controlled mine until I left the premise.

Did I look so stressed back then? Anyways, thanks for making my day :)

Itching to Type

Earlier today... or technically last night (depending on your geographical location) while I was typing something to a colleague in another continent, another colleague who sat beside me said:

"I like the way you type."

And then suddenly my hands become buttery. Like at this current moment.

I like typing. I don't know why. It's not like I like to create blog posts, or witty haikus, or even nonchalant quotes. I just like typing.

Not LOVE, only like.

Maybe because of that I accepted the offer to become a part-time translator for this one subbing company where a close friend of mine works.

And it's already like, what, two years and two months, me being a translator lol

And maybe because of that I now have this fast-typing skill, including not looking at the keyboard in the process - which is still sub-par compared to piano skill heh heh

And then when somebody said something about it, my fingers suddenly become buttery.

Butterfingers. Yum.

Wind in the Willow

Did you notice there are some people when they walk pass us or our place, suddenly there is a gust of wind hits you?
Why is that happening? Are they some kind of air-bender or something?
Or do they simply have a wider x-axis?

There are some people that I know - that I hate - has that gust of wind when they pass by my side. My conclusion is they might not have anything to do but to walk near me. As if I have something that might invoke their interest. That's why they NEED to walk close to me and give me their wind.

Or maybe they simply have a wide x-axis.

A Post 3068.1 Miles Away from Home

Hello from the land of the rising sun!

The time now in Osaka is 1:57am. I couldn't sleep after that cup of mocha about two hours and so ago. So right now I'm waiting for my freshly boiled water to cool down a bit so that I could be a bit warm before going to bed.

The weather here is not an issue... until night time. I have this feeling that the cells in my foot are bitten by frostbite every time I took off my socks. But anyhoo it's getting warmer. The sakuras are already blooming in this part of Japan.

Hmmm what else should I type before going to bed?

I'm not gonna post the pics that I've taken yet - I shall have them posted in multiple blog posts, like the one I did for my Korea trip.

Core leave day 2: sangap tahap cipan.

I'm leaving for Oosaka this Monday but I haven't started packing.

I still need to buy socks. The long ones that can be used for solat.

And food. What about food? Baru beli megi je. Serunding bagai belum beli lagi.

And my luggage bag. Belum bawa turun dari atas cabinet. Masih berhabuk tebal sebab dah setahun lebih tak pakai. Nak kena cuci kot?

Sangap gile. Malas nak packing. Tapi nanti kang lupa apa2. Malas tul.

Dah la pergi tempat jauh dan amat foreign. Ok la takde la foreign sangat kot. Kalau Estonia tu ye foreign.

Finally I got the one that I've been wanting for.

There was this time ago when I first know about this shoe. Now, being a person who doesn't exercise, when I saw the price online (on eBay summore) I was overwhelmed - let's just say it's way beyond what I was expecting. I could get several other shoes for walking (bersiar-siar dan bukan marathon ye) with that price. So then I shifted my vision to other shoes/sneakers and it settled down to New Balance.

I followed a sneakers-lover who posted a lot of NB sneakers pics on tumblr. And he did give some good reviews on NB, so that made me want it more.

And so yesterday my buddies and I went NB-hunting. Since the factory was closed, K suggested that we go to Fahrenheit88; there is an NB shop there. We agreed to park at Pavilion and walk to F88. But after a while I felt halfhearted since we have to cross a busy street to go there, so I kept delaying until after Maghrib prayers.

After the prayers, I walked to see my friends who were inside a store by the end of the other side of the building. Then I saw the Sketchers shop. Something made me want to go inside, and lo, behold. I saw Liv.

Saw the price. Contemplated.

The salesgirl showed me another type which costs less. Tried that on. Asked the salesgirl to get Liv. Tried it on. Loved it.

The rest is history.

Contemplating

Methinks by the end of this month (whilst I'm off for my trip weeehoooo) my team will be relocated to another place, together with the rest of the big team. While I am happy to move (I don't really like my current place; fell sick too many times already since we moved there last year), I don't really delighted with the new seating arrangement.

You see, being an anti-social (self-proclaimed but might be 95.7% true) I am, I'd prefer to have a workstation where I could do my work without any unwelcomed disturbances. I'd be uber happy if they provide partitions for each workstations. The current seating suits me fine; my boss on my right (who would always be tied up), and another an-soc on my left. So I could give my attention to the screen most of the time.

But then the new arrangement makes me sit beside someone that I am close to. That means around 30% of my attention would be gone, provided that the person likes to talk to me most of the time. And considering the fact that this person loves to speak random nonsense, I bet around 25-35% more will be gone.

Sigh.

Would it make me a bad person, preferring not to sit beside someone that is close to me?

(Actually I have more to write, but I could not think straight. Gon' go to bed, toodles)

City Hall (2009)

Omo omo omo I regret not watching this series earlier, because despite it's a genre that I don't really like, I totally love it!

Synopsis from DramaWiki:

City Hall is a drama that will deal with politics in a romantic comedy genre. It's about the happenings between a young woman mayor and an elite bureaucrat. Jo Gook is an exceedingly smart government official. He passed the Higher Civil Service quickly, and basically is the perfect guy. But being a deputy mayor is not enough for him. He lives with the dream of becoming South Korea's President. He should have easily gone straight to the top, but due to an unexpected incident, he gets dispatched as a deputy mayor for a provincial small town, Inju City, where Shin Mi Rae was working. Shin Mi Rae is a low-ranking secretary in Inju, but she works her way up in becoming the youngest City Mayor. As their paths met, they have to deal with each other's personal and social differences. But despite their constant bickerings, would they end up in each other's arms?

I am not gonna put my review for this drama as I'm not good in doing recap (drama lama summore), so go here to have a read: DramaBeans: City Hall. But my thoughts in point form (malas nak susun elok2):
. I totally love the lead couple in this, so cute and so loving. Kudos to Kim Sun-ah and Cha Seung-won to carry their characters magnificently.
. I also love the second leads' couple, especially towards the end. Not a single time I could see Jung-do trying to be more than just friends with Mi-rae. And although Joo-hwa is sometimes annoying, but due to her petite stature, her annoyance is quite cute (sorta).
. Yoon Se-ah is very beautiful. Maybe it's because the drama was three years before I actually know her (through WGM), she looks a bit different now - maybe probably she was a bit chubbier in the face back then? Because it took me so long to register Go Go-hae is actually her.
. Soo-in! That very cute guy from the Equator Man and City Hunter, he got me looked at his profile in DramaWiki this time (and so his name is Lee Joon-hyuk).
. There was not a single time I skipped scenes in the drama although the genre is not something I prefer to watch. Even the Elder's, although I don't really like him in this drama. And my perceptions of him here are influencing the one in Cheer Up, Mr. Kim. Ah why does he has to be a fearsome figure in both dramas? Huhuhu...
. The ending! Probably the best ending for a K-drama that I have ever watched! CAPSLOCK COULD NOT DESCRIBE THE SATISFACTION I HAVE RIGHT NOW! NOR EXCLAMATION MARKS!!!!
. Although she is a very talented actress, Kim Sun-ah was not as annoying as in her other dramas I watched. Maybe because she has to become a respectable public figure? But that is one change that I really like.

Aduhai! My points are not giving justice to this drama... Go watch the drama if you haven't, or go read the review if you don't have time to watch. Trust me, you'll be hooked to this drama like I did :D

A (Wee Bit) Late Revelation

I was just thinking last week about this someone who is, despite his busy and very tight schedule, never fails to update his blog regularly. How did he manage to update them with no-nonsense entries made me think,

"Even this guy could update them whenever he has free time, but me? Wasting it all on refreshing tumblr and twitter; watching K-pop and K-dramas; even fb-ing, when I actually do have the ideas and that wee bit of time."

So then I thought, should I do the same then?

Until it turned out that is quitting his blog - not that I did not know that he will be very tied up until the end of April (I presume).

But behold. I'm not doing this for him. What does he has to do with my blogging, apart from being inspirational?

So expect some more entries in the near future. Especially when I'm embarking another trip come the end of this month, yatta!

But anyway, thanks Kim Dong-wan, for being inspirational to me.

I was planning do to some ranting here today, after a small incident happening yesterday. But then when I open my blog's dashboard, I can see the page views hiked up like nobody's business recently. Quick look at the keywords which contributed to the hike - oh, it's because of the Aku Rindu song. Ah well.

Because I don't think I have any meaningful entry which could create a spike in my visitor's trend. Whatever.

Now I lost interest to rant here. Maybe next time. Maybe.
